AC/DC - Highway To Hellbecause AC/DC is the shit AC/DC are a hard rock band formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. The band are considered pioneers of hard rock, alongside bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath. Its members, however, have always classified their music as "rock 'n' roll".

3 Doors Down - Right Where I BelongPay no mind to the video thats with it. Some weird Japan-imation. Brad Arnold is the vocalist of the band and played the drums on the studio recording of their album The Better Life. He started singing full time for the band after a gig where no one else would sing except him and he found he enjoyed it.
Matt Roberts (guitarist) and Todd Harrell (bassist) founded the band with Arnold. Chris Henderson also plays guitar with the band.
Greg Upchurch is the drummer who replaced Daniel Adair in 2005. Adair joined Nickelback (known to tour with 3 Doors Down) to contribute to All The Right Reasons and remains with the band.

Sublime - Date RapeI tried to find Smoke Two Joints, but couldn't find a decent video. Formed in 1988 in Long Beach, California as a Reggae/Rock band, Sublime grew to fame in the mid-'90s. They combined such genres as reggae, punk, and rap. The band released just two albums during its first seven years. Lead singer Brad Nowell died in May 1996, just two months before the release of their self-titled third record, which became a hugely successful release based on the single 'What I Got'.
Vocalist/guitarist Bradley Nowell, bassist Eric Wilson, and drummer Bud Gaugh played their first gig on the 4th of July 1988 at a small Long Beach club (a show which sparked the infamous Peninsula Riot). The group began aggressively touring around the area with an increasingly substantial following, especially among the surf/skate beach crowd. After four years of concentrating strictly on live shows, Sublime's first album 40 Oz. to Freedom was recorded in 1992. The LP was released on Skunk Records -- the label formed by Nowell and Sublime manager Miguel -- and sold at shows, but it really started to break when KROQ began playing the single "Date Rape" two years after its initial release.
Mostly due to this radio exposure, Sublime signed to MCA for 1994's Robbin' the Hood, which revealed an experimental ethic more in keeping with cut-and-paste dub than the well-tuned rage of the Cali punk revival. The album performed well on college radio and set the stage for the breakout success of their third album, "Killin' It". On May 25, 1996, however, Nowell was found in a San Francisco hotel room, dead of a heroin overdose. The band collapsed, but the album was still slated for a July release, so the obviously inappropriate "Killin' It" title was dropped and it was released as a self-titled album. On the strength of the alternative radio hit "What I Got," the album was certified gold by the end of 1996. A number of posthumous releases followed, among them 1997's Second-Hand Smoke, 1998's Stand by Your Van, and Sublime Acoustic: Bradley Nowell & Friends. A 3-CD/1-DVD box set of demos, rarities, and live recording, called Everything Under the Sun, was released on November 14, 2006.

i heard AC/DC back in the old days meant likes it both ways as in bi-sexual....anyone have the truth on this? AC/DC is electrical terminology that stands for "Alternating Current" and "Direct Current". The slang definition that you're referring to came about because electrical appliances usually work on either an AC or DC hookup, and ones that can work on both are called "AC/DC" appliances. Thus, people who are bi-sexual are called AC/DC because they can "work" on both. RapisT...I agree, this thread is a great idea. Sorry for the off-topic def., but I wanted to answer Atomic's question.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numbthis one's for PyRo Pink Floyd are an English rock band that earned recognition for their psychedelic rock music, and, as they evolved, for their avant-garde progressive rock music. Pink Floyd were known for philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative cover art, and elaborate live shows. One of rock music's most successful and influential acts, the group has sold over 250 million albums worldwide, and an estimated 73.5 million albums in the United States alone.

Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Countryone of Carl and my favorites Avenged Sevenfold, also known as A7X, is a hard rock band that formed in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California. Their first album was titled Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, and was recorded when the band members were nineteen years old. It was released originally on their first label, Good Life Recordings. At this point their sound was mostly a mix of hardcore and metalcore along with some skate punk elements (most notably on the song "Streets"). After lead guitarist Synyster Gates joined the band, the intro track "To End The Rapture" was re-recorded with Gates playing, and the album was re-released on Hopeless Records. Their follow-up album, entitled Waking the Fallen, was also released on Hopeless and was awarded a positive rating in Rolling Stone magazine. Shortly after its release, Avenged Sevenfold was signed to Warner Bros. Records.
City of Evil, released on June 7, 2005, strays from metalcore, heading more towards heavy metal and adds a more hard rock sound with obvious influences ranging from various bands. Although the band have been labeled metal, metalcore, emo, and hard rock in many publications, the band themselves claim that they are a "heavy-metal" band and have no musical similarities to metalcore in any way although this is heavily debated by their peers. During the recording of City of Evil, M. Shadows' vocal styling changed to focus more on melodic singing rather than hardcore screaming. M. Shadows had minor surgery on his vocal cords, but he has claimed that this was not responsible for the band's change of musical style. He says the purpose was to remove the band from a genre that was "dying."
The band's name is a reference to the book of Genesis in the Bible and the story of Cain and Abel, where Cain is punished to live in exile, alone and miserable. Anyone who relieved Cain of his misery by killing him would have "vengeance taken upon him sevenfold." The title of Avenged Sevenfold's song "Chapter Four" references Genesis IV, the chapter of the Bible in which the story of Cain and Abel takes place. The song's subject also appears to be this story. "Beast and the Harlot", yet another song derived from the Bible, comes from the book of Revelation and refers to the punishment of Babylon the great, the world empire of false religion. The song "The Wicked End" also has a reference to the bible, specifically Adam and Eve. In the song, several times it is said "dust the apple off, savor each bite, and deep inside you know Adam was right." making reference to Eve eating the forbidden fruit. Although the band's title and members' stage names make obvious references to religion, Shadows stated in an interview that they are "not really religious at all." "Anyone that read the lyrics and really knew anything about us, they would know we're not promoting either", he said. "That's one thing about this band that I love is that we never really shove any kind of, like, political or religious beliefs on people. We just, the music's there to entertain and maybe thought-provoking on both sides, but we don't try to, like, really shove anything down anyone's throat. There's too many bands that do that nowadays, I think."
Their song "Blinded in Chains" was used in the soundtrack for the video games Need for Speed: Most Wantedand Arena Football. Another song, "Bat Country", was used in the soundtracks for SSX on Tour, NHL 06 and Madden 06, following in the footsteps of "Chapter Four" which had also been on the soundtrack for NHL 2004, Madden 2004 and NASCAR Thunder 2004. The song "Beast and the Harlot" was in the soundtrack for Burnout Revenge. All the above games, not coincidentally, are produced by various divisions of Electronic Arts. "Beast and the Harlot" also appears in RedOctane's Guitar Hero II, released in November 7, 2006. The song "Burn it Down" is featured on the October 24th, 2006 release of the Saw III soundtrack.
During recent tours (Coheed and Cambria spring 2006 tour and Ozzfest 2006), Avenged Sevenfold have been performing the song "Walk", originally by Pantera, as part of a tribute to the late "Dimebag" Darrell Lance Abbott (Aug. 20, 1966-Dec. 8, 2004).
At the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, Avenged Sevenfold received the award for best new artist. They took the award over several other artists--Angels and Airwaves, Panic! at the Disco, Chris Brown, Rihanna, and James Blunt. This is somewhat ironic, since they're aren't "new artists", and have been performing for many years. After canceling fall and winter 2006 tour dates, the band is planning their unnamed fourth studio album. M. Shadows has stated that it won't be a "City of Evil Part 2" or "Waking the Fallen Part 2", because they want to change their sound once more.
Avenged Sevenfold recently finished filming a DVD chronicling their history which will be released in April 2007 on Warner Bros.
