Creating an .iwd is very simple. Your map will need to be in the .iwd format when it is played on a server. An .iwd works the same as a .pk3 in CoD1.
Let's begin. Start by making a folder on your desktop(mine is named "temp"), it does not really matter what you name it though. Inside this folder you are going to make 3 more folders.
1. map
2. mp
3. soundaliases
There will also be 2 more folders which we will copy and paste from another location. However we will get to that later.
Now, open up your "map" folder. create another folder inside this one called "mp". Put your .bsp and .gsc files in here. The .bsp is your map after compilation. DO NOT PUT THE ACTUAL .MAP FILE IN THE .IWD.
Now on to the other 2 folders i mentioned earlier. These are called "images" and "materials", but you don't need to create these. They are located in your C:Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 2/Main folder. You will find them in there and you can just copy and paste them into your "temp" folder.
You should now have something that looks like this. Don't worry about some of the files that you should have. I will cover their creation in another tutorial.
Once you have this, it is time to create the .iwd. At this point you need to have WinZip and/or Winrar. Ok, Select all of the folders inside your "temp" folder. Now, right click and select "Add to Archive". Under archive name type "mp_yourmapname" Where yourmapname is whatever you want your map to be called. You will see an option of RAR or ZIP, select ZIP. Now go back to your file name, you will see that a .zip extension has been added to the file name. Erase the .zip and replace it with .iwd
It should now look something like this.
Click on OK. You will now have an .iwd file. Go ahead and test it out. Put it in your CoD2/Main folder. Load CoD2, go to Create Server, set pure to no. Drop down console by pressing ~ and type /map mp_yourmapname. If it loads you did it right, if not you made a mistake.
