Here I'm going to show you how to create the files you will need to get your map up and running. The first thing im going to go over is the .gsc as you will need this to test out your map without making the .iwd anyway.
.gsc
Inside the /maps/mp/ folder create a new text file using wordpad or notepad. Rename it to mp_yourmapname.gsc (where yourmapname is the name of your map, should be the same as your .bsp file which should be the same as your .map file). Now open the .gsc file using wordpad or notepad and type this:
main()
{
maps\mp\your_map_name_fx::main();
maps\mp\_load::main();
ambientPlay("ambient_mp_yourmapname");
game["allies"] = "american";
game["axis"] = "german";
game["attackers"] = "allies";
game["defenders"] = "axis";
game["american_soldiertype"] = "normandy";
game["german_soldiertype"] = "normandy";
setCvar("r_glowbloomintensity0", ".25");
setCvar("r_glowbloomintensity1", ".25");
setcvar("r_glowskybleedintensity0",".3");
}
You can replace the allies teams with "american, british or russian".
And the soldier types can be "normandy, africa, Coats,Winterlight,Padded,Winterdark. The types in italics are for winter maps.
soundaliases .csv
This will give your map some background noise. In the folder called "soundaliases" make another text document using notepad or wordpad. Now rename it to "mp_yourmapname.csv". Now open it using wordpad or notepad. Type the following text into the document:
name,sequence,file,vol_min,vol_max,vol_mod,pitch_min,pitch_max,dist_min,dist_max,channel,type,probability,loop,masterslave,loadspec,subtitle,compression,secondaryaliasname,volumefalloffcurve,startdelay,speakermap,reverb,lfe percentage
#Ambiance
ambient_mp_yourmapname,,ambient/amb_france01b.mp3,0.63,,,,,,,local,streamed,,looping,,mp_yourmapname
And every place you see mp_yourmapname stick in your map's name.
The .arena file
This is the file that will list your map. When you go to start your own server and there is the list of maps along the side. Well, without the .arena file you wont see your map listed there. You would have to dropdown console and load it manually. This will fix all that.
Open up the folder named "mp" **NOT /maps/mp**. Create a new text document and rename it mp_yourmapname.arena and open that up using a text editor. And type:
{
map "mp_yourmapname"
longname "The name you want people to see."
gametype "dm tdm sd hq"
}
For the "longname" thats the name people will see at the loading screen. For the gametype, you should only list the gametypes that you added spawn points for.
Have Fun and Good Luck!
